Have you seen "ACAB" around town? It's usually spray painted on buildings and walls in public areas. My wife and I noticed this graffiti recently, and after we became aware of it, we began to see it all over.
It stands for:
"All Cops Are Bastards"
ACAB is associated with the BLACK LIVES MATTER riots and is part of the DEFUND THE POLICE movement.
Defund the Police!
The Defund the Police movement wanted to reduce, or eliminate the police force. Most of the people advocating defunding wanted the money saved to be shifted to provide goods and services in their own community. They wanted free or subsidized housing, community centers, improved or free public transit, free medical, etc.
Many community leaders, including mayors and assembly members in various cities endorsed the Defund movement. Some of these cities made substantial cuts in the police budget, resulting in layoffs and reduced police services. Many police officers resigned after seeing ACAB spray painted all over their precinct. The net effect is that many cities currently have significantly understaffed police forces.
Crime is Up!
Crime is way up, all over the country and when you call 911, police response times are much higher. In many cases the police do not respond to some 911 calls. Many cities are experiencing the highest crime rates in their history. Citizens are angry about this current state of affairs. Recently here in Seattle, store owners using security cams were watching their closed store from home. They saw burglars breaking into their store and hauling out wheelbarrows of merchandise and called the police. Even though the store owners reported to 911 that they could see the crime happening, it took police 2 hours to show up.
Why Would any Politicians
Agree to Defund the Police?
Part of it is the Blame America First mentality. These politicians see America as evil and hence responsible for the ills of society. In their view the police are the visible force of our evil country. They believe society would be improved, without the police force. Everybody would get along and be happy.
But we have to live in the real world, and in the real world, we do have criminals. Regardless of these politicians inability to accept reality, there are evil people in this world. These evil people will take your money and your belongings, and they will murder people that get in their way. A well armed police force and the threat of arrest and incarceration are vital to keep these evil people at bay.
It is not healthy to bite the hand that feeds you, and a healthy society cannot continue to treat our police with such disrespect. Imagine if all police agencies and police officers were eliminated from our society. Overnight, our communities would descend into chaos and nobody would be safe.
What is the Path Forward to
Reduce our Crime Rates?
Our politicians agreed to defund the police. They made the cuts in the police budget. These politicians that cut police funding can restore police funding. Don't vote for any politicians that won't adequately fund the police.
We Must Vote Wisely to Eliminate Politicians
That Support Police Defunding!
Informed Wise Voters Are Societies'
Most Important Defense!
